‘QMC was great for me and I still miss it even now I have left. Being in the football academy and playing against good opposition every week was great and doing my Higher Sports Leaders Award and Level 1 Award in Coaching Football helped put me on the path to where I am today. I came to college and was lucky enough to go to Trinidad for a week with the Football Association on their football leaders programme and this opportunity and the knowledge and skills gained from being at QMC and being part of the Student Management Team and involved in the football futures programme at the college really helped me make my mind up that I wanted to be involved in development and coaching in the future. The facilities were great at the college and the chance to study at a great college with great teachers and football opportunities was too good to turn down and the two years at the college really benefited me and helped to prepare me for my role now working with the Football Association as a Skills Coach in Wiltshire.’

Since leaving QMC, Torsie has also completed her Level 2 award in coaching football and her Youth Modules 1, 2 and 3.

‘Queen Mary’s College has opened many opportunities for me to try and get a future career in football. This is because the college has a variety of different areas to which the study of football is excellent. QMC offer the FA Level 1 award in coaching football for free and this offers a great insight into coaching young children to learn the basic skills and to teach them some of the rules they need to know. For me getting the award has allowed me to get into plenty of opportunities and also get involved in another initiative which is the F.A Tesco Skills programme. Another great part of QMC is that they always give you details of any upcoming events that you might want to get involved in as a volunteer and work experience/part time coaching work. I have been offered placements at power league and other venues and was chosen to represent Hampshire at the F.A Leadership Camp at St Georges Park which will give me great experience and develop my skills as a football leader/coach. QMC has definitely made me want to go into football at university and also to try and pursue a career within it. Anyone interested in football should definitely go to QMC and get a great experience out of it!’
